I bought 2 Goldfinches today on impulse, which is rare for me.
They're somewhat hard to get, but cheap (same cost as canaries). I haven't had any since the last 2 died a year or 2 ago.
On a note of interest (or trivia), Goldfinches live wild across most of the southern coast of Australia.
Because someone released (introduced) them decades ago.
They're from Europe, & are not native to Australia (but are now wide-spread).

Ooh a baby Bengalese finch stumbling it's way around the aviary. How cute...
It's smaller than the adult Bengalese, it's only just got all its feathers, & it's only just out of the nest basket.
It looked a bit bewildered when I saw it, & I don't blame it. It's a big scary world outside the nest....
Plus 2 white baby Zebra finches I saw today (just out of the nest box). I haven't had any baby Zebras in ages.
Sometimes they produce babies with unusual colour mutations, & these are white ones (albinos)...

Excited with you @AdgeAdge 👍 Baby Finches, God / the universe is favouring you at last - must be doing something right ☺ Your news makes me smile. Love our little birds.
Keep telling us about it, I'm learning heaps. And post pics when you figure out how, put a couple here till you do.
Doing a great job @Adge, take care 🙂

Yes my Bengalese look just like your picture @Former-Member
I just found 2 blue Canary eggs in the nest (inside cage), which cheered me up a bit.
I'm still reeling from last week's severe harrassment incident (at work) - & I've just received a rejection letter from a Gardening job application, a position that I was told I was (& am) perfectly suited to.
I am bemused & confused to find the Canary eggs - because I was sure that both those canaries (in the cage) were male birds. Obviously not.
It's been almost impossible to find or buy any female canaries. Every canary for sale (at shops) is a male.
Canaries are hard to breed, it's been years since my canaries hatched out any baby canaries. So I'm not holding my breath with expectation.

So exciting Adge 😀 especially the canary eggs / female 👍 Hope they hatch 🐣🐤
Sorry your job continues to bring you grief 😞
Job hunting can really impact our self esteem, those unexplained rejections. Remember there's dozens of reasons we are knocked back that have nothing to do with us. Sometimes they only advertise for EEO requirements when they already have someone in mind. Its not worth over thinking it. Maybe get a foot in the door doing a volunteers day.
Sorry I dropped out lastnight. fell asleep typing I think lol. Found my phone on the floor again lol
Have a good day today. fingers crossed 💜

Yes you're right that job rejections knock our self-esteem @Former-Member
Also about it sometimes having nothing to do with us, because they already had another candidate in mind.
Apparently it's a tough job-maket to get into at the moment. My experience with job applications seems to confirm that.
I just discovered 3 more baby Budgies in the nest (fully feathered), ready to come out. I put 2 of the Budgies inside (with the Cockatiels) about 2 weeks ago.
Now I've got 11 Budgies, when I only had 3 a few months ago...

Ooh a nightcap, nice one @Former-Member
No rain here, it's hot & dry - that rain is only on the east coast.
I will fall off my perch with surprise if the canary (sitting on eggs) raises any baby canaries. I haven't had any baby canaries raised in over 10 years...
It was such a surprise to find that she was sitting on 2 bright blue eggs.
That's because I have not been able to find (or buy) any female canaries in ages - I thought she was a male (she isn't)...

Thanks for the nice soft hay to land on (lie in) @Former-Member
Do you need a soft landing too, or do you already have one?
Yes Canary eggs are bright blue, with speckled dots all over them, very pretty...
