So nice to have you!
What are things you enjoy doing? We may be able to direct you to some threads that may be of interest?

Thank you for the welcome. I love that SANE is doing this and there's so much discussion that's happened. I'm living presently with disabling mental distress to the point where I've had to leave my part time job and I'm wondering if I'll be able to do it ever again. I have religious trauma, PTSD, ADHD, Bipolar, severe anxiety and depression.
The things that have kept me going are writing poetry, playing the drums, swimming and trying to keep my primary school aged kid fed, clothed and dropped off/picked up.
I'm very socially oriented and love hanging out with friends but have lost motivation to do this and even the above stuff most if the time.
Keen to chat about how art/music/writing is helping us, what kind of formal/informal support we're all getting and how helpful it is, including talk and pharmaceutical therapies, also interested in if anyone's participated in psychedelic assisted therapy.
I currently see a psychiatrist, psychologist and GP, and have also accessed free EAP counselling sessions through my former employer. I've used lifeline, beyond blue and SANE's phone supports before. I'd love to access peer support like through the guided recovery program but unfortunately my postcode isn't covered yet. The alternative in my area is more of a referral service run by a faith-based charity from a denomination I've experienced trauma from.
I have a lot of ideals for my life, and I'm feeling the grief of feeling out of reach, and I'm holding a flicker of hope, and it feels really dark a lot of the time.

I enjoy writing and playing music and poetry, surfing and swimming, bushwalking or walking in general.

Amazing @Flowerflesh .
Thank you so much for sharing a little about yourself. It sounds like you have been through the mill and back and you have come to share the story.
Lived experience is incredibly powerful. In my own recovery, I had a lot of clinical support, but it was peer support and hearing from others that made the real difference.
Peer support allows us to connect with others and know that we are not alone. It gives us hope and assurance, even when things are so tough.
I love swimming also. I have a pool at home, so I hop in quite often.
And I read that you have a kid you have to remember and look after too. Well done on being the best parent you can be at this time.
Just a note, SANE's Guided Recovery will be accessible to all postcodes by July 1.
In the meantime, feel free to 'Start a New' discussion if there is anything in particular you want to ask or share.
There are others who love writing poetry etc.

@ale_inmelb , Perth is lovely. Sydney is crowded, but it depends on where you live I guess.
Queensland is a lot warmer.
It's amazing that we live in the one country, but it can be so different in climate, people, places, and everything!
I hope you enjoy your stay while you are here studying @ale_inmelb
