Share a cuppa?

Re: Share a cuppa?

They also hated communists, Poles, Slavs, Jehovah's Witnesses and Gypsies. Those are all ridiculous hatreds, but one of the most ridiculous hatreds I've ever heard of is that up until the 19th century Europeans and the English so hated black cats that the English hunted the English black cat down almost to extinction. It was an American who brought that breed back from extinction.

We need to accept we're a species that hates, and rather than get rid of hatred, which just won't be achieved, we need to learn to live with and manage it so it doesn't run amok. As long as we're not doing that, it will run amok. We're simply not going to get rid of it, people!

Re: Share a cuppa?

This is the thing about hatred, @Shaz51, it's always been with us and will always be here. There is nothing and no one on this planet that nobody hates. As long as we we're trying to get rid of hatred we may just as well be trying to get rid of rainy days. We need to accept it's with us and learn to manage it, because that's the only way hatred won't run amok. It'll still hurt, but we'll be able to cope with our own feelings of hatred and the bigotries of others, mostly without it escalating into violence.

Re: Share a cuppa?

Talk about rain @Abner

Where I am it feel like it rains 350 days a year 🤣😂

Re: Share a cuppa?

We had a whole year of rainy days last year @Shaz51, which rather put the forty days and forty nights into perspective, didn't it?

Re: Share a cuppa?

One more thing I'd like to add about hatred, @Shaz51, is that it does have some good purposes. It converts emotional pain that's been inflicted on you into something you can cope with, and it gives you a sense of powerfulness when you feel a powerlessness you're unable to cope with.

It's not people who hate who become violent, it's people who feel guilty about their hatred, and then blame the foci of it for that hatred who commit hate crimes. The psyche is "If we get rid of you, we get rid of the source of the hatred.".

We won't overcome hatred, and shouldn't get rid of it, but we can learn to powerfully manage it, just as we can cope with rainy days... there are people have a terrified of storms, they learn to cope with them and the fear of them. Why? Because they've no other choice...and it's the same with hatred, we just don't have any better choice than to learn to cope with it.
