Helpful tips for Financial stress and hardship

Re: Helpful tips for Financial stress and hardship

Yep , don't know how we survived without it before @FloatingFeather

Have you got a holiday tomorrow??

Qld don't

What are you planning for dinner and Halloween 😁

Re: Helpful tips for Financial stress and hardship

@Smc, thank you so much for sharing this with us ❤️

I just wanted to say, wow, it sounds like you have really looked at a challenging situation and made decisions for how to get through it. I find it can be really easy for me to feel out of control when so much is happening, but it seems like you've focussed on what you can control.

Also, what you said about needs must when it comes to frozen food and take away REALLY resonates with me. For years I would beat myself up about not doing so much home cooking. But I've also realised that there are times when it is just too hard and exhausting. So letting go of some of my shame about this has been so freeing. I love your tip for sharing a meal-deal and getting something extra. Such a good idea.

I hope the next little while gets easier and some of these decisions really pay off ❤️

Take care, TuxedoCat

Re: Helpful tips for Financial stress and hardship

Hi @Shaz51,

Absolutely - I remember many hot summer nights as a kid laying under a fan that was pretty much useless as it was just churning around the hot air! Love air conditioning on those particularly hot days and nights.

I'm in NSW so no holiday for me today either - I actually didn't know that Victoria has a public holiday for the Melbourne Cup until this year. Half their luck - hope they are really enjoying their day 🙂🐎.

Just had good old spaghetti bolognese for dinner last night - did you have a special Halloween meal? Actually would have been a fun idea.

Re: Helpful tips for Financial stress and hardship

@FloatingFeather  we had chicken kebabs on a bed of egg noodles last night

And Mr shaz had put a lock on the front gate so no one could come in and knock on the door for Halloween 😁

Kebabs and noodles sounds nice @Shaz51.

That's one way to keep the kids at bay Mr shaz lol. We didn't have any trick-or-treaters - think the kids think we live on the boring street 😉

Re: Helpful tips for Financial stress and hardship

@Shaz51 @Smc  I'm soaking green lentils for tonight. My supermarket shop today included red lentils, generic brand tuna and (for a treat) satay tofu. I'll have to start looking for discount catfood for the cat, there's a warehouse near here. My expenses are going to be very high for a while to get the cat started on arthritis treatment and get some help with the house and garden.

Re: Helpful tips for Financial stress and hardship

What you making with the lentils tonight @Dimity

I have sausages out for dinner tonight

How old is your furbaby xx

Re: Helpful tips for Financial stress and hardship

@Shaz51 I'm making a vegie hotpot with lentils tomato onion herbs pumpkin mushroom olives.

I'm not sure but I think the cat is about 18 and he only has 3 legs so there's been a lot of wear and tear on his hip. Hopefully the injections will make him more comfortable and get him moving again. Weekly injections for 4 weeks then every 3 months.

I like making a big pot of casserole which is great for freezing for another meal

Or having leftovers the next day

How is everyone going xx

Leftovers for brekkie @Shaz51  is better than making the Big Breakfast Companies richer, or porridge plus nuts and dried fruit.
