I decided yesterday to get back into doing some cross stitching as I was a little bit tired of knitting and crocheting and headed to Lincraft to get some 14 count Aida. I knew I had some DMC cottons around so I just needed to look for them in my room and get started! Anyway, as I’ve been really stressed lately due to housing issues, I thought that this might calm me down and it really helped me immensely. I decided to do a freehand type thing which I’ve titled ‘Psychological State of Mind’ with the black in the middle representing depression/things I can’t control and then I’ll add differ colours according to how I feel. It’s something that I’ve wanted to do for a long time but never really made an effort to stitch it. I’ve put a photo of what I did yesterday and last night - I was stitching between 1:30am- 3am this morning as I couldn’t sleep yet found it really relaxing listening to music on my iPod- so I hope you like it. There’s no real reason behind the shapes - I just make it up as I go and edit it if I want to. I like this as it’s like having a blank piece of white paper and I can do what I like on it, in regards to whatever I feel like stitching. It’s fun!
I really want to stitch up my knitted teddy bear sometime this week as well and give it to my housemate. She picked the colours and has already named the bear Molly, so I think I need to get some toy stuffing into it and sew it up! My housemate is great and we’ve been friends for over 3 years - she’s also got MH issues but is studying the Diploma of Nursing and is really helpful and friendly! That’s why I love making her this teddy. When it’s done, I’ll try and post a photo.
